📘 MATERI CONDITIONAL SENTENCES (Kalimat Pengandaian)

🔹 1. PENGERTIAN

Conditional sentences adalah kalimat yang menyatakan “jika… maka…”.
Terdiri dari dua bagian:

• If-clause (syarat) → diawali dengan if.

• **Main clause (hasil/konsekuensi)*.

Pola umum:

• If + syarat, maka hasil

• Contoh: If you study hard, you will pass the test.

🔹 2. JENIS-JENIS CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

✅ A. Zero Conditional → Fakta Umum / Ilmiah

📌 Pola: If + Present Simple, Present Simple
👉 Artinya: jika kondisi terjadi, hasil selalu sama.

Contoh:

• If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.

• If people don’t drink water, they die.

💡 Gunakan untuk fakta ilmiah atau kebiasaan.

✅ B. First Conditional → Kemungkinan Nyata di Masa Depan

📌 Pola: If + Present Simple, will + Verb (base form)
👉 Artinya: ada kemungkinan sungguh-sungguh terjadi.

Contoh:

• If it rains tomorrow, I will stay at home.

• If she studies hard, she will pass the exam.

💡 Dipakai untuk rencana masa depan yang realistis.

✅ C. Second Conditional → Angan-angan / Tidak Nyata di Masa Kini & Masa Depan

📌 Pola: If + Past Simple, would + Verb (base form)
👉 Artinya: situasi imajiner (angan-angan).

Contoh:

• If I were rich, I would buy a big house.

• If he had more free time, he would learn Japanese.

💡 Khusus “I/he/she/it” → tetap pakai were, bukan “was”.

✅ D. Third Conditional → Penyesalan / Tidak Nyata di Masa Lalu

📌 Pola: If + Past Perfect, would have + Past Participle
👉 Artinya: menyesalkan sesuatu yang tidak terjadi di masa lalu.

Contoh:

• If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.

• If she had left earlier, she would have caught the train.

💡 Dipakai untuk membayangkan hasil berbeda di masa lalu.

✅ E. Mixed Conditional → Campuran Waktu

📌 Ada dua bentuk umum:

1. If + Past Perfect → would + Verb (Present/Future)
   👉 Hubungkan masa lalu dengan masa kini.

   • If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now.

2. If + Past Simple → would have + Past Participle
   👉 Hubungkan masa kini dengan masa lalu.

   • If I were smarter, I would have solved the problem yesterday.

🔹 3. KATA PENGGANTI "IF"

Selain if, bisa dipakai:

• Unless = kecuali jika → You won’t pass unless you study.

• As long as = selama → You can borrow the book as long as you return it tomorrow.

• Provided that = dengan syarat → You can go out provided that you finish your homework.

🔹 4. RANGKUMAN POLA

First Conditional	If + Present Simple, will + V1	Kemungkinan nyata di masa depan	If it rains, we will stay home.
Second Conditional	If + Past Simple, would + V1	Angan-angan masa kini / masa depan	If I were you, I would join the contest.
Third Conditional	If + Past Perfect, would have + V3	Penyesalan masa lalu	If she had studied, she would have passed.
Mixed Conditional	If + Past Perfect → would + V1 / If + Past Simple → would have + V3	Campuran waktu berbeda	If I had studied, I would be a teacher now.

B. Ubah kalimat langsung ke Conditional!

1. You don’t eat → You are hungry.
   👉 If you don’t eat, you will be hungry.

2. She didn’t study → She failed the exam.
   👉 If she had studied, she would have passed the exam.

3. I am not tall → I can’t play basketball.
   👉 If I were taller, I could play basketball.
