📌 A. Pengertian Passive Voice

Passive Voice (kalimat pasif) digunakan ketika fokus kalimat adalah penerima tindakan, bukan pelaku. Dalam kalimat pasif, subjek menerima tindakan, bukan melakukan.

Contoh kalimat aktif:

The teacher explains the lesson.
(Guru menjelaskan pelajaran.)

Contoh kalimat pasif:

The lesson is explained by the teacher.
(Pelajaran dijelaskan oleh guru.)

📌 B. Rumus Passive Voice – Simple Present Tense

Rumus:

Subject + am/is/are + past participle (V3) + (by + agent)

Keterangan:

  • am dipakai untuk I

  • is dipakai untuk he, she, it, singular nouns

  • are dipakai untuk you, we, they, plural nouns

📌 C. Contoh Kalimat Aktif dan Pasif

Aktif (Active Voice)Pasif (Passive Voice)
She cleans the room every day.The room is cleaned every day (by her).
They make cakes in the bakery.Cakes are made in the bakery (by them).
I wash the dishes every night.The dishes are washed every night (by me).
The students write the homework.The homework is written by the students.

📌 D. Kapan Menggunakan Passive Voice?

Gunakan Passive Voice jika:

  1. Pelaku tidak diketahui atau tidak penting.

    English is spoken in many countries.
    (Bahasa Inggris dituturkan di banyak negara.)

  2. Ingin menekankan objek/tindakan daripada pelaku.

    The homework is collected every morning.
    (PR dikumpulkan setiap pagi.)

📌 E. Latihan Soal (Change to Passive Voice)

  1. He waters the plants every morning.

  2. They clean the classroom after school.

  3. The chef prepares the food.

  4. She opens the window.

  5. We send emails to the manager.
