1. Pengertian Simple Present Tense

Simple Present Tense adalah bentuk waktu yang digunakan untuk menyatakan:

  • Kebiasaan atau rutinitas (habitual actions)

  • Fakta umum atau kebenaran ilmiah

  • Jadwal tetap (misalnya: jadwal transportasi)

  • Instruksi atau perintah

2. Fungsi Simple Present Tense

3. Rumus Simple Present Tense

🔹 (+) Kalimat Positif

  • Subject + Verb 1 (base form) → untuk I, You, We, They

    I eat rice every morning.

  • Subject + Verb + s/es → untuk He, She, It

    She eats rice every morning.

🔹 (-) Kalimat Negatif

  • Subject + do/does not + Verb 1

    • I/You/We/They → do not (don’t)

    • He/She/It → does not (doesn’t)

    He doesn’t like coffee.
    They don’t play football.

🔹 (?) Kalimat Interogatif

  • Do/Does + Subject + Verb 1 + ...?

    Does he live in Jakarta?
    Do they speak English?

4. Verb + s/es (aturan umum)

Akhiran kata kerjaTambahan
Umum (play, go)+s → plays, goes
Berakhiran -ch, -sh, -s, -x, -z, -o+es → watches, washes, goes
Berakhiran konsonan + yy → i + es → studies
Berakhiran vokal + y+s → plays, says

5. Adverb of Frequency (Kata Keterangan Frekuensi)

Digunakan untuk menyatakan seberapa sering suatu kegiatan dilakukan.

6. Time Expressions (Keterangan Waktu Umum)

  • Every day / week / month

  • In the morning / afternoon / evening

  • Always, usually, sometimes, etc.

8. Kesalahan Umum

  • Menambahkan “s” ke verb untuk “I/You/We/They” → ❌ They eats rice.

  • Tidak menambahkan “s/es” untuk “He/She/It” → ❌ He eat rice.

  • Menggunakan “do” untuk “He/She/It” → ❌ He do not play.
